Article 10.06 / Articles 32.02(2), 32.03(1) – Transitional regulations with regard to Article 10.06 – Maximum permissible voltages – Vessels constructed before 1 April 1976

Question:

Which of the requirements in Article 10.06 apply to vessels built before 1 April 1976, starting on 1 January 2015?

Reply:

When inspection certificates are renewed after 1 January 2015, vessels built before 1 April 1976 will have to meet the requirements of the 1976 version of the RVBR listed below. (This interpretation is valid for Articles 10.06, 10.10, 10.11(2), 10.12, 10.14, 10.15 and 10.17).

Article 10.06 Maximum permissible voltages (Article 6.02 RVBR 1976)

a) The following voltages may not be exceeded:

C Outlets for current supply to handheld appliances used on open decks or in confined or damp metal-enclosed spaces other than boilers and tanks:
1. in general 50 V 50 V -
2. using an isolating transformer serving a single appliance: both wires in such circuits must be insulated - 250 V -
3. when using appliances with additional or double insulation 250 V 250 V -
D Outlets for current supply to handheld appliances used in boilers and tanks 50 V 50 V -



b) On condition that the required protective measures are observed, higher voltages are permitted:
- in installations for equipment for recharging batteries, depending on the recharging process;
- for power installations as required by their rating;
- for special installations on board such as radio and ignition installations.
