Article 19.06(3)(a) - Emergency exits involving breaking a window pane
Question:
Is a solution involving breaking a window pane acceptable?
Answer:
There is no fundamental objection to providing for a breakable windowpane as an emergency exit. For safety reasons, tempered glass should certainly be used to avoid the risk of injury from sharp edges.
19.06(3)(f) specifies the emergency exit dimensions. That means that emergency exits could also be windows. The window requirements are to be found in article 19.06(14).
