ES-TRIN, Articles 13.03(2) and 19.12(1) - Class F fire extinguishers

Question:

How shall the required quantity of Class F fire extinguishers in the galley of a passenger vessel be determined?

Answer:

The total content of Class F fire extinguishers that need to be available in galleys of passenger vessels shall be determined according to the total amount of vegetable and/or animal oils and fats present in the galley. The total content of all fire extinguishers shall be calculated using the extinguishing capacity as defined in the European Standard EN 3-7. A margin of 25% should be added to the quantity of extinguishing agent.

Determine the total amount of vegetable or animal oil and fat:

This results in a total capacity of class F fire extinguishers of 246F.
