ES-TRIN, Article 8.08(2) - Bilge pumping and drainage system – interpretation of independent bilge pumps
Question:
How shall the term “independent bilge pumps” in Article 8.08(2) be interpreted?
If both pumps are driven by an electric motor, should they be supplied by different switchboard, main and emergency?
Answer:
“Independent bilge pumps” means pumps driven by different power sources. If the pumps are driven by an electric motor, the electric motors shall be supplied by different electrical power sources (switchboards).
